Themis Computer Announces Intel Xeon-based Rugged Enterprise Servers™

Themis is shipping new 2RU and 3RU dual-processor servers that provide enhanced technologies for even faster performance, reliability and value in demanding environments

FREMONT, California -- July 20, 2004 - - Themis Computer has announced two new Intel® Xeon™ dual-processor servers for use in demanding military and aerospace environments. Themis' RES-22XEL™ and RES-32XEL™ servers are based on the Intel Xeon processor and NetBurst™ microarchitecture technologies. The new RES-22XEL is Themis' most compact dual Xeon system in a 2RU (Rack Unit) 20" deep chassis, and the new RES-32XEL is offered in a 3RU configuration that provides users maximum I/O flexibility and high performance.

Themis engineered the new RES-22XEL and the RES-32XEL servers for configurability with single or dual Intel Xeon processors, at up to 3.06 GHz for the RES-22XEL and 3.2GHz for the RES-32XEL, and connection to a 533/400 MHz Front Side Bus and 800 MHz memory bus. With a wealth of I/O and storage options, the modular design of the RES-22XEL and RES-32XEL servers allows users versatile configurability and system expansion. Themis' new system uses Intel's new E7505 chipset to provide higher system performance and scalability. The E7505 Memory Controller Hub is the central hub for all data passing through the core elements such as the dual Xeon processors, and delivers 4.3GB/s of bandwidth across a 533 MHz system bus and up to 4.3GB/s of bandwidth across two high performance DDR SDRAM memory channels.

Themis' new RES-22XEL and RES-32XEL systems deliver new, innovative technologies including; Intel Hyper-Threading Technology, Intel NetBurst microarchitecture and next generation AGP 8X graphics. Themis' new RES-32XEL servers support optional InfiniBand bridges for PCI expansion . The RES-22XEL and RES-32XEL systems offer outstanding platform performance, dependability, and value.

Both systems may be configured with up to 12GB ECC protected DDR-266 memory, and are easily expanded through the addition of commercially available, off the shelf networking cards, I/O, peripherals and other value-added options to meet current and future system requirements. The expansion versatility of the RES-22XEL and RES-32XEL provides ample headroom for integration with current and future server and workstation platforms.

Themis' new servers support a broad range of proven solutions on a variety of operating systems, including Windows®, and Linux® to provide users with the flexibility that their computing environments and applications demand. To ensure reliable operation in harsh environments, leveraging the rugged design of it's successful family of Intel-based servers, Themis designed the new systems to withstand shock loads of 25 G @ 40 ms (MIL-901D).

The Themis RES-22XEL Servers

The RES-22XEL dual-processor system delivers the robust design of Themis' Rugged Enterprise Server (RES) family in a low-cost, compact chassis design. The Intel E7505 chipset technology-based system is designed for demanding applications aerospace and military environments. The RES-22XEL is the only system in its size that features both an AGP 8X graphics slot and Zero-Channel RAID (ZCR) support, enabling the system to provide graphics performance beyond the capabilities of similar systems with on-board AGP 8X graphics support. The rugged, expandable RES-22XEL reflects Themis Computer's extensive experience expertise in designing high performance systems for use in demanding operating environments.

The RES-32XEL, Themis Computer's new 3U dual-processor server/workstation, combines the robust design of Themis' Rugged Enterprise Server (RES) family with five PCI slots and storage expandability. The rugged RES-32XEL reflects Themis Computer's extensive expertise designing high performance systems for use in demanding environments. This new system combines proven Intel Xeon processor, Intel E7505 chipset, and Adaptec Zero-Channel RAID (ZCR) technologies with Themis' proprietary thermal and mechanical design techniques to achieve superior I/O configuration flexibility and performance.
