Trend setting Themis CoolShell Technology combines standard motherboard economies
of scale with the benefits of blade server architecture, in
a configuration suitable for use in the most demanding environments.
- High Compute Density
- Standard Commercial Components
- Rapid Migration to New Processor Technology
- Mechanical Integrity
- Lower Total Cost-of-Ownership
- Standard-Form Factor
- Shallow-Depth and Reduced Acoustic and Electromagnetic Noise
Themis’ new Slice-CT blade
server is the first system designed with CoolShell Technology. It is targeted for applications
that need a compact, lightweight solution that must operate
in demanding environments, including Class A shock and vibration.
Slice-CT CoolShell blade technology combines the cost-of-ownership
benefits of blade-server architectures, including cable management,
maintainability and scalability, with the value proposition
of standard motherboards and IO controllers. The Slice-CT blade
server product family includes three blades and three chassis:
Blades
1RU Quad Socket Opteron Server Blade.
1RU Two Socket Opteron Workstation Blade.
1RU I/O Blade.
Slice-CT Subracks
Slice-CT blades plug directly into
either a 4RU or 10.5RU high subrack. The 4RU subrack accommodates
3 Slice-CT blades or 12 Opteron sockets. The 10.5RU subrack
holds 9 Slice-CT blades or 36 Opteron sockets. Each subrack
includes a backplane, N+1 redundant power supplies (PSUs)
and redundant Gigabit Ethernet or InfiniBand switches. Slice-CT
processing modules communicate with each other and the outside
system via the integrated GigE or InfiniBand switches. Slice-CT
PSUs are hot-swappable. The Slice-CT Subrack provides
internal cable management, minimizing total cost of ownership.
Slice-CT Switch Fabrics
Slice-CT processor Blades are interconnected
by redundant switch fabrics running through the Subrack backplane.
Both InfiniBand and Gigabit Ethernet fabrics are available
in a Slice-CT system. The fabrics are implemented as redundant
switch module that plug into a Slice-CT Subrack. The switch
modules include both InfiniBand and Gigabit Ethernet switches.
External InfiniBand and GigE ports allow a Subrack to be connected
to other Subracks or to be integrated into a larger system.
Slice-CT Management
A Slice-CT system includes a full complement of server management features. Dual redundant shelf
managers are collocated with switch modules. Each Subrack can be accessed remotely for management
purposes, via dedicated 10/100 Ethernet ports. Each processor blade can be monitored for power control,
status information, senor readings and system event logging.
